The Lack of Holy Fear! The Church has forgotten the Fear of The Lord!

Where has the fear of God gone?

In this podcast, we'll be discussing the troubling trend of the decline of the fear of the Lord in the church.  We'll explore the consequences of forgetting the fear of the Lord and consider the importance of this fear in our spiritual lives. We'll also touch on the problem of the decline of the fear of the Lord getting worse with each generation and the need to reclaim this fear in the church. Join us as we delve into these topics and more on Coffee with Conrad.

The fear of the Lord is gone!

But the fear of God is a biblical precept. It is the beginning of wisdom.

Conrad explores an important yet often neglected topic - the fear of the Lord. He notes how in today's church, there is a general lack of true, reverential fear of God. The "greasy grace" teachings have led many to become complacent and comfortable, failing to recognize God's awesome power and authority.

However, as Conrad outlines using various passages, the Bible clearly shows that the fear of the Lord is absolutely vital for followers of Jesus. From Paul cursing Elymas the sorcerer with blindness to Ananias and Sapphira being struck dead for lying, these sobering examples showcase how seriously God takes sin and rebellion.

Yet the fear of God is not meant to terrify us, but to humble us and lead us to rely fully on Him. It moves us to repentance, self-examination, and obedience. As Conrad mentions, it is the beginning of wisdom and helps prevent spiritual pride. A healthy fear leads us into closer fellowship with God as we walk in holiness and truth.

So how can we cultivate this fear of the Lord today? By immersing ourselves in Scripture, we encounter the awesome majesty and unfathomable greatness of God. As we seek Him in Spirit and in truth, we come to know Him more intimately. This inevitably leads us to deep reverence and godly fear.

Let us pray that the modern church recaptures the fear of the Lord in a life-giving way. May we passionately pursue the true knowledge of God, standing in awe of who He is.
