I have had a lot of ups and downs in my life. I am glad I am saved, and I am glad that I have overcome a lot of things. But I sometimes look back and wonder where I got off track.
I decided to go to California when I was 18. I keep second-guessing myself. Is this where I derailed?
Would things have been any different if I stayed in Texas?
I left my Texas family and embraced the morals and values of Hollywood. Yeah, I probably should never have went to California. But on the other hand, I had a ton of pitfalls that I learned from and I can warn others about.
There is nothing we can do about the past. Learn from it and move on. We CAN do something about tomorrow.
In any event, God reached through and saved me in spite of all my pitfalls and shortcomings when I was all alone in my living room. He could have done that in Texas, California, or anywhere.
If you keep second-guessing yourself, I encourage you to look forward.
Jesus says, once we commit, to look forward. If we look back, we can't plow in a straight line.
Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Paul tells us to keep our eyes on the Prize! Forget about looking back. Press onward!
Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Stop worrying about the past. Plow in hope for the future.
PS. Remember Lot's wife?
