Back in the Day, you could walk into someone's home and look at their VCR. If they had a flashing 12 on the screen, that said a lot about them.
The flashing 12 means that they never took the time to set the clock. Which means they never took the time to explore the complete functionality of the VCR. For one thing, you could record videos remotely - like the football game while your at church for instance. Flashing 12’s would put the vhs cassette in and press "play". That is about it.
I remember someone asked me (a good while back) why i would spend so much money on a computer to check my email. Yep. They had a flashing 12 paradigm for computers. They had no idea that a person could use a computer as a powerhouse for ministry. Youtube, Gplus, Instagram, Youversion, E-Sword, Facebook and on and on and on. All they used their computer for was checking email and writing letters. But there was a whole treasure trove of solutions right at their fingertips. If they only took the time to dig deeper.
We have 1000 dollar phones now. And an amazing amount of people use them just for phone calls. Maybe text messaging. Yep. Flashing 12's. Smartphones are powerful weapons for the Kingdom. Bibles. Social Media. Videos. Live Streaming. Automating your home. Navigate. Save money. Save time. And on and on and on.
Our phones can be a nuclear power plant for God, but many settle for caveman fire.
Let's take this paradigm to the Word of God. There are Keys to the Kingdom in the Word of God. We have bibles that are chocked full of treasure of how to get healed. How to get delivered! How to have eternal life! How to have a relationship with the Creator of the Universe!
But many of us approach scripture with a "flashing 12" mentality. We read our bibles because we think is is what we are supposed to do. We go no further. We aren’t passionate or curious so we don’t dig. If we approach the Word of God this way, we will be limited to having flashing 12 faith with flashing 12 lives.
Renowned physicist Sir Isaac Newton knew there were codes hidden in scripture (probably) based on Daniel 12:4. He spent years of his life trying to break the code. He even wrote a book commentary on Daniel (Daniel and the Apocalypse of St. John).
In the last 30 years people with computers have found equidistant letter sequences (ELS) encoded in scripture. Mr. Newton was on to something big. But he needed a computer to glance at it. There is surely much more to come.
Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Sir Isaac Newton knew there was treasure hidden in the Word. He dug deeper. I bet if he had a VCR it would have the correct time on it.
There is a treasure in the field. Dig for it.
Mat 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
