Growing in Christ: Nurturing the Seed of Salvation - Heart Solutions Part 3 #CWC

Overcoming Iniquity Through Spiritual Progression

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Peter 1:23)

When we invite Jesus Christ into our hearts, a miraculous transformation begins. We are born again, not of corruptible seed, but of the incorruptible seed of God's Word. This is just the beginning of our spiritual journey, as we learn to nurture this seed and grow in our relationship with Christ.

As newborn babes in Christ, we must desire the pure milk of the Word, that we may grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2). We feed on God's Word, hiding it in our hearts that we might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11). As we meditate on the Word day and night, we become like trees planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in due season (Psalm 1:2-3).

But growth is not always easy. We face opposition from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Our old sinful habits and thought patterns (iniquities) may plague us, even as we strive to walk in newness of life. But praise God, He does not leave us to fight these battles alone! He promises to drive out our enemies little by little, lest the beasts of the field become too much for us (Exodus 23:29-30).

As we yield ourselves to God, presenting our bodies as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1), He begins to transform us by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). We learn to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

This is the essence of nurturing the seed of salvation - aligning our thoughts, words, and actions with the Word of God. As we abide in Christ and His Word abides in us, we bear much fruit (John 15:7-8). The fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance - becomes evident in our lives (Galatians 5:22-23).

Beloved, let us not grow weary in this journey of faith. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As we behold Him, we are changed into His image from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). May we be found faithful, nurturing the incorruptible seed, until Christ is fully formed in us (Galatians 4:19).
